Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology (CUIET) is a Self-Financing Engineering College run by The University of Calicut is situated in Thenhipalam. The institute was established in the year 2001 with the aim to promote education and research in the field of engineering and technology and to groom the young men and women into high quality technical personnel useful to the society with sound engineering knowledge,good managerial skills and high moral values. The Institute campus has an extensive area of 10 ha. (25.17 acres). The necessary infrastructure facilities like water supply, hostels, canteen and play grounds are available in the campus. '' ==Academics== It offers undergraduate programmes in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Printing Technology. The departments and centres of the Institute are responsible for the academic activities which include Teaching, Research and Industrial Counsultancy.The courses of study are organized on semester programs and each semester provides for a minimumof seventy instructional days. The medium of instruction is English. Students are evaluated on a continuous basis throughout thesemester. Evaluation is done by the faculty, a consequence of the autonomous status granted to the Institute. Research work is evaluated on the basis of the review thesis by peer examiners both from within the country and abroad. Ordinances in respect of the academic programof study are prepared by the senate, the highest academic body within the Institute. The rigors of academic study at each level are balanced with a number of other related activitieswhich include co-curricular activities.
